This article is an excellent overview of how near-future space combat might actually work, and also points out plenty of things that depictions of far-future space combat have gotten very wrong.

Just over forty years ago, Martin Luther King Jr. spoke out against the Vietnam War. In doing so, he made clear the connection between war and economic exploitation, and exposed the hypocrisy of those who applauded his nonviolent stance on civil rights demonstrations while also applauding violence against the Vietnamese.

Yeah, I don’t usually like to sound like I’m begging in my blog posts, especially when it’s not clear to entity what my request could be made. But I am, not for the first time, awash in dread that the United States is going to launch an attack on Iran.

The commander of CENTCOM, Admiral William Fallon, claimed in an interview that he doesn’t believe that the current situation will lead to war with Iran. I really hope he’s right, and also hope that it might be a good sign that such a high-ranking military officer is coming out publicly against a US attack Iran.
