Los Angeles Photos
.I went to Los Angeles last weekend, visiting my friends Brian and Anne. While there I used my camera for the first time in months, and I post some of the better shots below.
On Saturday night we went to Santa Monica pier, and I don’t think I managed to quite capture below the amazing light at sunset:
On Monday I went to the La Brea Tar Pits, and having just read this article, the installation of dying and distraught mastodons profoundly disturbed me.
I appreciated the hundreds of dire wolf skulls, though.
I found the Tar Pits and attendant museum interesting, although the apparent fascination with grim animal deaths perturbed me.
Tuesday found me at the Getty Center, quite impressed by the amazing view and the architecture.
Looking over the painting “A View of the Grand Canal: Santa Maria della Salute and the Dogana from Campo Santa Maria Zobenigo” c. 1740 by Bernardo Bellotto, I thought about what an incredible amount of work painting takes, and took a detail shot to underscore this.
I also took shots of the moonrise and the sunset.
