If deep space is two things, they are: old and cold. Old because it’s been there forever, and rarely is it disturbed by anything new. Cold because nothing large enough to make a difference moves out there.

Things that stay out there for too long take on these aspects. Old and cold become the rocks, the comets, the particles, the dust, the gas.

Old and cold become the ships.
